Afer celebrating the Easter season and two major Solemnities, the Church now returns to walking with Jesus and His disciples in the liturgical season of Ordinary Time, having once again the frst reading for Mass from the Old Testament. On this pilgrimage with Jesus, He teaches the disciples and all people they encounter, including us, all about Salvation history. That through our baptism, the Lord becomes our inheritance. Elisha becomes the attendant to the Prophet Elijah, so too do the disciples become the attendants to Jesus. This is serving others out of love, the love we are to have for our neighbors. The teachings of Jesus become the very words of everlasting life and they are what draw people to cast of their old self and become new again in the way of following Jesus and His teachings. It is out of the great love that Jesus has for every person that He calls us to have the desire to be His disciples in our own lives. May we hear His voice and cling to His words, as we journey to everlasting life with Christ.
