The Church today celebrates the source and summit of our faith, the Most Holy Body and Blood of Jesus Christ. The
solemnity of Corpus Christi reminds us of the very important truth and teaching of the Catholic faith, that Jesus, at the Last Supper, took simple bread and wine and changed them into His Body and Blood and then told His apostles to “Do this in memory of me.” As Catholics, this is what we do at every Mass, through the hands of the priest and with the prayers recited, the Holy Spirit changes the bread and the wine into Jesus Himself, so He may continually nourish and strengthen us for our journey to heaven. The bread and the wine are not symbols but hold the hidden reality of Jesus’ Body and Blood. This is why all Catholic churches have a tabernacle to reserve the Holy Eucharist, Jesus Himself. This is why as Catholics we have Eucharistic Processions and schedule hours for people to come and adore our Lord, Jesus Christ in the Holy Eucharist. Jesus is the living bread that has come down from heaven and we receive Jesus so we will live forever with Him. Pray that your heart becomes more fully aware of the Real Presence of Jesus in the Holy Eucharist. When we receive the Holy Eucharist in faith then we know that what we receive is not a ‘what’ BUT really ‘who’ we have received.
Please come out and join in showing your faith by participating in the Mandan Eucharistic Procession starting at Spirit of Life, proceeding to St. Joe’s, and then fnishing at Christ the King.
Please pray for the three men who will be ordained Monday to the Sacred Priesthood for our diocese.
Praise be Jesus Christ, Our Eucharistic Lord
