The brief Christmas season comes to a close with the celebration of the Baptism of the Lord today. Through the Prophet Isaiah the Lord God tells us that His Word will not return to Him void, but shall do His will, achieving the end for which He sent it. Jesus the Word made flesh, has come to show us how to do the Father’s Will. Jesus’ public ministry begins with His Baptism in the Jordon by John and the voice from heaven reveals that this is God’s beloved Son. It is through our own Baptism in the holy waters that we too, become God’s children that the Father is well pleased with, especially when we strive to do the Father’s Will and give Him all praise and honor in the way we worship and live. May the Holy Spirit, as it descended upon Jesus, also descend upon us to enliven our hearts to love like our Savior Jesus will love this world.
