Being an honest and trustworthy person is the lesson being taught to us in the readings today. The Prophet Amos was calling out those people who wanted to cheat people by fxing their scales and then compensating them less than what their item was worth and to oppress the poor and needy by their actions. Jesus counters this type of action with the parable of the rich man who fnds out his servant is squandering his property yet in turn commends that servant for his prudent action in trying to recover some of the master’s wealth. Then Jesus makes it quite clear that if we are dishonest in small things, we will also be dishonest in the bigger things of life. That also being trustworthy with the goods of others then we can be trusted to take care of more. For we will come to recognize that God will give the honest and trustworthy person greater gifs to take care of and to share with our neighbors. Let us be the good and prudent steward of the many gifs God provides! In
