Good people of Christ the King, as we concluded the Octave days of Easter, the Church celebrates what is now known as Divine Mercy Sunday. It was also the date planned for our children to receive their 1st Holy Communion, but unfortunately that has been postponed until we resume public Masses, please keep these children in your prayers.
Jesus, in His teaching regarding His Divine Mercy, pours out His Sacred, pierced heart upon us, with His Mercy and His Love. When one sits before the image of the Divine Mercy, they clearly see the bluish color stream, representing the water that pours out of His side while still on the cross after dying, the water of new birth we receive through Baptism. The reddish colored stream of light is His Blood that pours out, washing our sins away through His gift of mercy.
On most images, at the bottom, are found the words: :Jesus, I trust in You." These are words we need to keep repeating to ourselves throughout our day, especially in these challenging times. When we know Jesus is there for us, and His Mercy and Love are always available to us, then the words He speaks to the Apostles "Peace be with you" become ours to also hear. May we remain connected through our Savior Jesus Christ and His abundant peace, mercy and love.
