The beginning of the Communion Antiphon today says, “I will sing to the Lord, who has been bountiful with me.” Indeed, how generous God has been to us, pouring out His blessing on us daily, so that we can live for Him more fully. Singing to the Lord, is our expression of giving thanks to God for His generosity, of receiving the gifs of incorruptibility and immortality, which help us to conquer sin and death. This all leads us to being able to bear from our words and actions the good fruit which God desires us to bear. Someone or something bad cannot bear any good fruit. Keeping our hearts open to God and His goodness toward us lends itself to being the good people that God intended us to be. Thus, as the Psalmist says, “Lord, it is good to give thanks to you.” May we give good praise to God and to each other.
