Today, at least in our Diocese, the Church celebrates the Ascension of Our Lord. This is the day promised by Jesus that He would have to return to the Father in heaven to complete the plan of the Father. Jesus never said He didn’t want to remain with us nor does He desire to just abandon us, for He has promised to always be with us in Spirit; the Holy Spirit that will be sent from the Father and the Son. Jesus must return to the Father in order for us to experience the gift of the Holy Spirit in our lives, which empowers us to live faithfully as disciples following Jesus. It is through our Baptism that we each have been given the same mission: “Go into the whole world and proclaim the Gospel to every creature.” As we go about this mission, Jesus, through the Holy Spirit, will accompany us and confirm us in bringing His Word and working His signs through each of us. May we rejoice in being called to so great a mission! Please hold our friends in the school in your prayers as they break for the summer. Another friendly reminder to please return your God’s Share gift as soon as possible so we can clear your name from the parish list, thank you! Blessings, Fr. Fred
