The Church celebrates the great Solemnity of Corpus Christi, the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, the Eucharist. By the actions of Jesus Christ with His Apostles gathered around a table at the Last Supper, Jesus instituted the Holy Eucharist, which distinguishes us as Catholics, for we believe that indeed the bread and wine that Jesus shared with the Apostles and with us at every Mass, becomes His precious gift of His Body and Blood. For us as Catholics, this is the center truth of our faith, as Jesus gives to us to receive the nourishment we need for the journey. Receiving Jesus in the Holy Eucharist is the most intimate way in which we individually encounter our Lord and Savior. We become more and more of what we receive when we do so properly prepared and trusting in the teaching of Christ to be true. Jesus would not have spoken this way to His Apostles if what He said is not true. It is with our faith that we come to believe and adore our Lord in the Most Holy Eucharist. What a gift, may we let Jesus Christ change us more and more by our reception of this gift! In Christ, Fr. Fred
