In these Christmas days, we bask in the glorious light that Jesus Christ has brought into our world, by His very presence. The first Sunday after Christmas, the Church celebrates the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, presenting to us the beauty of the creation of the family in the eyes of God and how the relationships within the family mirror the relationship that Jesus, Mary, and Joseph have with one another and with God. St. Paul provides us, God’s chosen ones, who are holy and beloved, with a good listing of things that helps us to live in right relationships with others: heartfelt compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, patience, bearing with one another and forgiving one another. With these virtues in our lives, we then can love in the same manner as God, letting the peace of Christ control our hearts. Jesus’ staying behind in Jerusalem left Mary and Joseph very anxious until they found Him once again. How often do we find ourselves anxious about something in our own lives? That is the most important time to turn to Jesus and ask Him to bring you peace and right the relationship back to how God desires.
