We are being fed with that which will give us eternal life

Those following Jesus had just witnessed Him feeding the massive crowd, over five thousand people, with five loaves of bread and two fish, and we hear them now ask Jesus for a sign so that they can believe in Him. Jesus told them the work they need to do is to believe in Him, that is all, that He is the True Bread from Heaven. But they just referred to how God had given their ancestors the bread from heaven while out in the desert when they were grumbling about not having food to eat. His miracle of feeding the crowd wasn’t recognized by them as a sign from God of who Jesus really is for them. Let us not grumble against God, but truly see and know in faith that we are being fed with that which will give us eternal life, Jesus Himself in the Holy Eucharist. May our reception of Jesus give us a renewed spirit in our minds and hearts, so as to create us in God’s ways of truth and righteousness. Blessings, Fr. Fred
