In our Diocese we celebrate the Ascension this weekend and then Pentecost next weekend, the ending of the Easter season. Jesus prepared His disciples for His returning to the Father, assuring them that He would never leave them abandoned and that the Holy Spirit will be sent to them. This Holy Spirit gave them strength to carry out the ministry Jesus gave them to do and still today it is the Holy Spirit that helps us to not only know God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit, but to live for Him in all ways. We are not to be saddened by Jesus leaving this earth and returning to Heaven, but instead be filled with joy.
This coming week the parish will have the celebration of First Holy Communion for our 16 children at two different Mases, please hold these children in your prayers.
Also, a salute to the graduating class of 2020, an unusual experience for you all but hopefully one that will have prepared you to face new challenges in your life. May you have a blessed and safe Memorial Day weekend, remembering all those who have served and are serving our country to protect us, especially those who have given the ultimate sacrifice, may they rest in peace.
