The Bismarck-Mandan SERRA Club invites everyone to join in the wishes of Pope Francis by praying for vocations on Sunday, May 3, 2020. The SERRA Club further encourages all its members and all who pray daily to continue praying for vocations each and every day after May 3rd. Our Holy Father is asking all of us to pray for vocations to the priesthood and religious life. May we use this very unusual time in our world, during this pandemic, to obey his command to pray. May we all pray for this very important need in the Church.
Pope Francis, in his message for World Day of Prayer for Vocations 2020, asks us:
“Dear friends, on this day in particular, but also in the ordinary pastoral life of our communities, I ask the Church to continue to promote vocations. May she touch the hearts of the faithful and enable each of them to discover with gratitude God’s call in their lives, to find courage to say “yes” to God, to overcome all weariness through faith in Christ, and to make of their lives a song of praise for God, for their brothers and sisters, and for the whole world. May the Virgin Mary accompany us and intercede for us.”
The Holy Father’s entire message can be viewed HERE.
As a recommendation, we can pray a familiar Vocation Prayer:
O dearest Jesus, Son of the eternal Father and Mary Immaculate, grant to our young men and women the generosity necessary to follow your call, and the courage required to overcome all obstacles to their vocation.
Give to parents that faith, love, and spirit of sacrifice which will inspire them to offer their children to God’s service, and cause them to rejoice exceedingly whenever one of their children is called to the religious life. Let your example, and that of your Blessed Mother and Saint Joseph, encourage both children and parents, and let your grace sustain them. Amen
