We hear often how the Pharisees, the scribes, and the chief priestd were always trying to trip up Jesus or catch Him doing something that was not lawful in their eyes or ways of thinking in their laws. But Jesus is always very smart and knows their thinking and actually catches them in their own traps. Jesus makes it clear today that we are to pay to God what is God’s, for all things have come to us from God and nothing is truly our own. For He is the Lord and there is no other, there is no rightful God but the One True God, the creator of all things. Faithfully following God’s commandments and teachings, we then are laboring in the love and hope that God asks and then everything we do will give the Lord glory, praise, and honor. Let us not test our God but hold true to the faith that we have received and strive to live for Him in our words and actions each day. Give to God some time of prayer each day to draw closer to Him!
