In the Gospel, Jesus goes to a house for a visit after teaching in the local synagogue and is told immediately that one in the house is sick. Jesus goes to her and heals her. Then we hear that the whole town has gathered at the door of this house, bring with them all who were ill or possessed by demons. Jesus cures many of those who were sick of various diseases and he drives out many demons from the people. He displays with action, the great love of God for His people. The Gospel then tells us that Jesus rises early the next morning and left for a deserted place for some time of prayer. He does this in order to prepare Himself for another day of preaching and teaching and performing miracles of healings, Jesus needed to be refreshed and it was through prayer that He receives this from His Father. Jesus is then ready to move on to other places, as this is the purpose of His coming amongst us. Let us too find time to be refreshed by our God through moments of prayer throughout our day and then allow God to teach us and heal what ever needs healing in our lives.
