It is the great celebration of Pentecost, the fiftieth day since Easter! Many refer to Pentecost as the birthday of the Church. For it is the day after Jesus’ Ascension back to heaven to be with the Father that they sent the third person of the Holy Trinity to enliven all people. The Holy Spirit, as it is being poured out upon us, gives us the wisdom of understanding and the ability to know, love, and serve God and our neighbor. It is the graces of the Holy Spirit that help us on our journey, our pilgrimage of faith. Thus, we pray each day for the Holy Spirit to be upon us and strengthen us to do God’s work in this world. My prayer is that each of you will recognize and feel the presence of God in the Holy Spirit, bringing you peace and joy in your daily life.
