As followers of Jesus, we continue to walk with Him as He goes from village or town to another, proclaiming the Gospel and sharing God’s love through healings and curing the people. Today in the Gospel of Matthew, we hear Jesus giving this sermon on the mount, declaring how blessed or made holy we are in the varying moments of our lives. Jesus teaches us through what are called the “Beatitudes” and that in all circumstances of life we can be blessed if we live the moments of life for Jesus Christ. Even when we are persecuted or made fun of because we believe in Jesus, it is then that Jesus lifs us up and draws closer to us. When we have a humble heart and know we can do nothing without God helping us, then great things will happen. God provides us with all that we need to do His works, and give Him praise and glory in and through those works. Let us rejoice and be glad, for our reward will be great in heaven when we live as disciples of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. During this Catholic Schools Week, may we pray for our Catholic schools, that they will be the place of learning to be true disciples.
