Some of you may know more than others about the parish’s plan to embark on a Capital Campaign to raise the necessary funds to take care of a list of needed repairs and projects, both in the school and the entire parish complex. Unfortunately, due to the health crisis that is on-going at this time and not knowing when things will get back to how we are used to it, the campaign committee wisely decided now is not the time to go forward with the campaign until at least this coming Fall.
That being said, the top two issues on our list were to replace all the rubberized roofing, which is 20 plus years old and deteriorating. These are the roofs on the chapel, the office area, and the rectory. The plan also is to do some maintenance work around the entire steel roofing on the school to stop the leaking. I have been allowed to go forward with these two issues by the Diocese, as they are willing to give the parish a loan for the amount needed to cover the costs. To replace and to repair the roofs it is estimated to be close to $300,000. This was not the original plan of action, as I believed that the Capital Campaign would have generated enough revenue to cover these costs upfront and we never planned to take out a loan. Times have changed that plan and the roofs must be taken care of this summer so as not to incur any more damage.
I am writing to you, so that you know what is going on at the parish and am asking that if there is anyone within the parish that is able to step forward and make a donation to fix and replace the roofs at this time to please do so or at least please contact me regarding a contribution. The more we can raise now, means the less money the parish will have to borrow in a loan. I am so grateful for anything anyone can do to assist in this matter and know that together we will get through these difficult days and be stronger and better after this passes.
My prayers for every one of you during this time, please stay healthy and safe, being North Dakota Smart as the Governor has been telling us to be! May God bless each of you.
