In today’s Gospel, Jesus is teaching His disciples about the depth of love He has for them, through the commandments He has given them and the gif of the Holy Spirit that will remain with them forever. We, too, are called to keep God’s commandments, as they are guides for us to get to eternal life. Living the commandments is an act of love for God and our neighbor. With the gif of the Holy Spirit promised to be with us always, we are ever ready to share God’s love and be one with the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The celebration of Pentecost is fast approaching, the celebration of the Father and the Son sending the Holy Spirit upon the Church, enlivening our hearts to follow Jesus. Jesus is our reason for great hope, something we need very much in our world today. Though our suferings may seem harsh, they lead us to a greater level of holiness, as Jesus is very much with us in our suferings and trials. Let us share the love of God and the hope of eternal life with others in the ways we live our lives.
May all mothers on this Mother’s Day weekend be blessed in their maternal duties.
Please do not forget to return your gif to the annual God’s share Appeal. Peace, Fr. Fred
