Large crowds are traveling with Jesus, so as He BAPTISM stops to address them, another teaching moment, Jesus asks them a number of questions. Jesus does this to check on where their faith might be or did they think they could be His disciples while doing it all on their own, or to be in control of all situations. Jesus doesn’t want us to hate anyone, especially family, but all we do stems from the love that Jesus has for us, and our relationship with Jesus is the driving force of our love for others. Jesus knows well what taking up our cross is about and in our own suferings and cross we encounter the depth of Jesus’ love for us. When we start to plot out the direction we wish to go in life, it is so important that we are asking God for guidance in doing His Will. The last reminder Jesus gives us is to be thankful to God for all He gives each of us in this life and to use these gifs to assist others and not try to keep them just for ourselves. When we share with a grateful heart, it is then that we are striving to truly be a disciple of Jesus Christ.
Starting Labor Day Monday, the Bishop, priests, and deacons of the Diocese will be at the annual Fall Clergy conference for a time of education and refreshment. Please pray for us as we will be praying for all of you.
