We sometimes may wonder why God would be asking us to do a certain thing for Him, as it may seem too challenging for us. But He is always in a sense testing our faithfulness, to see if we fully trust that He is ever present to us and will help us to accomplish anything He asks of us. The test given to Abraham by God, to sacrifice His only son, certainly seems to be way too much. But through this challenge, Abraham stayed true to God and His wishes, displaying great faith and trust that God will get him through it. This of course, gives us a glimpse of what God will ultimately do, by allowing His Son to suffer and die for us. Jesus in the Gospel provided a peek at what lies ahead for each of us, the glory of the Kingdom of Heaven, where those faithful to God will be all together. God Himself once again impresses upon the disciples of Jesus, who He truly is, as they hear a voice from the cloud declaring, “This is my beloved Son, listen to Him.” May we be unafraid and free from worry about the challenges that come our way, for Jesus, the beloved Son of God, is walking with us through it all.
