The Second Sunday of Easter is known as “Divine Mercy” Sunday. St. John Paul II as Pope began this great celebration when St. Faustina was given the Divine Mercy image from our Lord, calling us to all ‘Trust” in Him. The Divine Mercy image is quite familiar to most of us, as it shows Jesus’ pierced heart pouring out His blood and water from His side, the water representing Baptism and the blood for the Holy Eucharist; the sacramental life of the Church. Baptism starts our faith journey and through the Holy Eucharist we are nourished and strengthened for the journey. The Risen Lord appears to His disciples and surprises them. There is a mixture of belief and doubt, but through the Holy Spirit they all come to the point to proclaim Jesus as the Lord and our God. This helps them to understand all that Jesus had taught them and to trust in Him as the Son of God. Their examples give us the same ability and help us to give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, His love is everlasting! Praise be Jesus Christ, His mercy endures forever!
Please keep in prayer our children receiving Jesus in their First Holy Communion this day. Also keep the Bishop, the priests and deacons of the Diocese in prayer, as we gather for our Spring Clergy conference this week.
