The Lord our God makes known His presence to each of us in varying ways, sometimes very clearly and at others not so much. Like for Elijah, the prophet, God made known His presence in the tiny whispering sound, something that we may not even hear due to the noise of the world we live in. The very presence of God can easily escape us if we are not paying close attention. This can happen if we have little faith and not truly trust in the goodness of God, who can calm the winds and storms and waves in our life, as Jesus shows us in the Gospel today. We cannot let Him walk past us without notice, we need to seek Him out and allow Him to be present to us. It is through the suffering, death, and resurrection of Jesus that all good things are made available to us and our salvation won. Find the quiet you need to encounter our Lord each day!
Just a note that the Assumption of Mary on August 15th is not a holy day of obligation this year as it falls on Saturday.
