In the first chapter of the Gospel of John we read, “Jesus turned and saw them following Him and said to them, “What are you looking for?” That question from Jesus should make us stop in our tracks and visualize Jesus looking at us with His eyes locked onto ours and hearing Him asking you and I, “What are you looking for?”
How would you and I answer that question? What ARE you and I looking for in our lives? In Psalm 63 we read, “for You my soul thirsts.” Our soul’s built-in natural inclination is to go to God, to be with Him in Eternity, and while on Earth to love Him and to serve Him. However, because of our fallen nature we are inclined to instead look towards and chase after the material things and pleasures of this world. We may be happy with worldly things for a while but not for long. And certainly not for eternity.
